2012 will herald the arrival of the Town Regatta joining with the Boat Show to make a fun filled family day out with diverse attractions along a 1 mile long walk way where the visitors will be treated to events on the water alongside great views and many varied static displays. With evening entertainment planned for the Saturday night, Brightlingsea Boat Show and Town Regatta will be the place to be - so make sure you mark your diaries and calendars now!
With local organisations, clubs and many marine stalls and business from throughout East Anglia represented, we expect a great show for visitors and their families.
With many thousands of people anticipated, the Boat Show and Regatta provide easy access, free parking and free entrance. With donations to the RNLI and Brightlingsea 4Youth, this worthwhile event raises important monies for these valued organisations.
Dogs are welcome - but they must be kept on a lead. With fun in mind, we aim to give everyone a warm welcome and a fantastic weekend!
The whole weekend boat show and regatta event is being chaired and organised by the Brightlingsea Town Council and all associations and businesses within the town and area are being encouraged to participate in this huge local weekend.

Lots of boats, new and second hand, lots of marine chandlery stalls, lots of clothing, lots of marine jumble stands and associated trade stands such as trailers, covers, rigging and electronics.
Brightlingsea Town Regatta
Continental Market next to the Boat Show in Shipyard Estate.
There will be local displays from local artists and craft exhibitions along the Hard railings and pavements.
At the Harbour Commissioners Cinque Port Wreck House – a display of local history including the Brightlingsea Museum and nautical artefacts.
Throughout the event there will be local musicians and street entertainers and local street theatre mingling through the crowd as well as entertainment from Punch and Judy and face painting.
Stalls and stands from local businesses.
By the sailing club there will be the local horticultural display including Brightlingsea in Bloom. Also, a playground and rides, bouncy castle and rides.
Along the promenade there will be a beach hut open weekend where the beach hut owners through the Beach Hut Association will display wares, bric-a-brac, offer tea and join in the event. Remember - the view over the water from the beach huts is wonderful!
The boating lake will have an exhibition from Brightlingsea Model Boats on Saturday and Sunday morning. In the afternoons, there will be dinghies for hire run by local associations.
The Swimming Pool will host swimming events on Saturday and Sunday mornings and visitors can either watch or participate in the fun events.
On the water, the Brightlingsea Sailing Club are offering “try a dinghy” free of charge in the mornings and demonstration racing events in the afternoons.
At the Colne Yacht Club there will be a full range of events from rowing to fun events such as duck racing and crabbing competitions.
Brightlingsea Harbour Commissioners are offering free trips around the harbour and a free ferry service to the boatyard where Brightlingsea Boat Show will be held. Also, they are holding several events on the water.
The Smack Dock society are having an open weekend.
The Pioneer Sailing Trust will be having an open weekend to view the wonderful work they are doing in rebuilding old 19th century vessels and their Gig Rowing Boat.
FREE ADMISSION - FREE PARKING
A Park and Ride scheme is being adopted by the Town Council at Lower Park Playing fields. There will be open top red busses transporting visitors to the boat show area, the market, the hard, the sailing club and the swimming pool. The town council will be ably assisted by Brightlingsea 4Youth.
